Kalevala Lakes-Finland in Winter
My tribute to Colossal Order. Many thanks for the hours of creativity you have inspired!
The sun rises to reveal a heavy snow that has just blanketed the land of endless lakes and boreal forests of taiga conifers. A deep peace prevails across the land, the snow muffling out any noise. Simulated reindeer, bear and elk paw the taiga ground for any scraps of moss and lichen they can find.
“Wait… what’s that noise?” says the startled elk. VROOM HONK HONK The once serene land is invaded by a horde of humanoids intent on “developing” and “bringing progress” to this wild place. Will you plow over this wintry eden entirely, reaping it of its treasures in wood and ore, or will your city become a shining example of modern eco-conscious development where cappucinos, spiffy mobile phone manufacturing and creative software developers prevail?

This is a Boreal map, which allowed the right sunlight and night colors and moods, which combined with “MyLUT” make for a beautiful atmospheric experience.

* The tree required by this map is Aurlandsen’s Snowy Tree v2. Aurlandsen also has a fantastic set of winter items including the tree decorated in holiday lights seen in the photos.

TERRAIN TEXTURE CHANGER MOD Instructions:
**** If you have any problems or need help with the textures, leave me a message here. Glad to help! Despite its name, the mod does NOT replace your existing textures. It places the custom ones in a special folder, which is activated only when you have the mod set on “active” status. Whenever you turn the mod off, you will return to regular textures. ******
Download the textures and name each with the texture name listed for each image link:
Be sure to rename all of these files to the file names listed here next to their link. They are a slightly altered snow texture pack originally by xonedi.

1. Subscribe to the TerrainTextureReplacer mod
2. Create a new folder at this location C:UsersYOUR NAME HEREAppDataLocalColossal OrderCities_SkylinesAddonsModsTerrainTextureReplacer. You will have to create this folder yourself within the existing Mods folder, be sure it is named TerrainTextureReplacer. Place the textures you downloaded into this folder.
Fire up the game, turn on the mod from the Main Menu and start a new game with the map! Before opening another map, you can always turn the mod off to turn off the terrain changer, or move them to a separate storage folder to use different custom textures. Very easy!

Boreal Map with “MyLUT” Color Filter makes this look great.
This map will work without mods, but who would want to go without this beautiful snow? Also, the only tree used is a snow tree.
