ITALIAN: L’immondizia diffusa era una delle cause del dilagare di epidemie e pestilenze e negli Statuti Comunali vennero adottate precise norme circa il divieto di gettare immondizia e si prescrisse lo scavo nel sottosuolo di “BUTTI” veri e propri pozzi per i rifiuti prodotti nelle case. Questi butti erano delle fosse , scavati al di sotto delle abitazioni, nei cortili o in apposite aree, a cui erano collegati da canali di scarico, oppure direttamente negli orti o nelle strade, in questo caso si trattava di butti pubblici. Spesso gli stessi canali di scarico erano usati anche per le latrine, le antenate deI bagni pubblici.
