Timboh’s Basketweave Interchange
People living in Toronto will probably recognize one of these! Basketweaves aren’t really “interchanges”, but more like a transition piece for vehicles shifting between collector/express lanes. Works great for expansive, cross-city motorway systems. In the real world, basketweaves are, well, sort of rare. There aren’t that many places where they’re actually needed. A few exceptions would be Toronto’s Highway 401 (busiest road in the world), Autoroute 1 north of Paris, and Rijksweg 4 east of Den Haag.

Advantages/Disadvantages:
I don’t really know what to put in here. As far as I know, it’s the only design in use for connecting collector/express systems, except for custom ramp layouts. Well, it’s… um… It has no weaving! That’s always an appreciated thing, isn’t it?
